The incident occurred on Thursday evening in the village of Kotliska. As reported by lwowecki.info:

(…) shortly after 8 p.m., the Emergency Notification Centre operator received a report of an “accident” and dispatched the emergency services to the location indicated in the report.

Four fire service units, a police patrol and a medical rescue team arrived at the scene.

However, it turned out that no accident had occurred at the location in question. What is more, there were no injured people either. Instead, the officers found... a smartphone from a well-known manufacturer which, having probably fallen out of someone's pocket, had activated the procedure by itself.

Nowadays, smartphones are equipped with advanced technologies that can automatically notify emergency services in the event of an accident. Thanks to built-in sensors such as accelerometers and gyroscopes, these devices can detect sudden changes in movement that may indicate a collision or fall.

When such an event is detected, a smartphone can automatically send an emergency message to the appropriate services, providing the user's location and other relevant information. This solution can significantly speed up rescuers' response and increase the chances of receiving quick assistance in crisis situations.
