On December 24, at the headquarters of the Lubań municipal police, a man was supposed to settle a matter concerning improper parking. The 57-year-old smelled of alcohol. In addition, his slurred speech aroused the officers’ suspicions. The man tried to convince them that he had arrived by bus, but his unsteady behavior suggested otherwise.

The resident of Bolesławiec County was warned about the prohibition against driving while intoxicated, but soon afterward decided to get behind the wheel of his Volkswagen and drive away. Shortly afterward, he was stopped by a Municipal Police patrol. The police were called to the scene, and a test showed that he had more than 1.5‰ of alcohol in his blood.

To sum up the Christmas Eve morning, the man received a fine, and his vehicle was secured. The case was taken over by the Lubań police. The irresponsible driver faces serious consequences, including up to three years in prison and the forfeiture of his car.
