The Investigative Division of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra is conducting an investigation into an incident that occurred on July 5, 2026, in Lubań. The proceedings concern the abuse of official authority by three officers of the County Police Headquarters in Lubań during and in connection with an intervention they undertook involving a non-aggressive injured party, by using direct coercive measures against him. As indicated, the officers thereby acted to the detriment of the injured party’s private interest, that is, an act under Article 231 § 1 of the Criminal Code.

“The investigation is ongoing,” informs Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska. “Evidentiary proceedings are underway. The case is being investigated against persons as yet unidentified. No one has been charged so far,” adds the press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

After receiving information about possible irregularities related to one of the interventions carried out by officers from the County Police Headquarters in Lubań, the County Police Commander immediately decided to suspend the officers involved from their official duties.

“The relevant local prosecutor’s office was notified of the matter, while internal police activities are being conducted in parallel to thoroughly clarify all the circumstances of this incident,” informs junior inspector Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń. “The Police always treat all signals concerning possible violations of the law with the utmost seriousness, and every case is explained reliably and transparently. Consequences provided for by law are drawn against persons who have engaged in unlawful conduct. If this is confirmed by the findings of the ongoing proceedings,” adds the press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Lubań.
