The incident occurred early in the morning of September 26, by the main road running through the village of Wyręba. A detached garage was on fire, with a BMW parked inside. The fire spread so quickly that not only the building itself but also structures in its immediate vicinity were at risk.

As it turned out, the garage was adjacent to a utility building, significantly increasing the risk of the fire spreading. This was precisely what determined how the rescue and firefighting operations were conducted.

The BMW inside the garage could not be saved—the vehicle was completely destroyed. The fire also damaged the garage roof, which suffered both from the flames and from the streams of water used by the firefighters.

No one was injured in the incident. The rescue and firefighting operations involved units of the State Fire Service from Lubań, volunteer firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Service in Siekierczyn, and police officers from Lubań, who secured the scene.
