On Tuesday, 8 February, police officers from Bolesławiec detained two men, aged 20 and 25. Both are suspected of assaulting a 47-year-old man. The incident took place on 22 January this year on one of the streets in the centre of Bolesławiec. The men were crossing the street when they attacked a driver passing by. The older suspect jumped onto the car’s bonnet and began hitting the windscreen. The 47-year-old tried to stop the vandal, at which point he was beaten.
The detainees were unable to explain why they had attacked the driver. They only admitted that they had been drunk at the time of the incident. Both suspects now face up to three years in prison, while the older man will additionally face charges for damaging the car, which carries a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment.
