From May 2023 to November 2024, officers from the Criminal Division of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski carried out a series of dynamic operations in the Lubusz Voivodeship, as well as in the West Pomeranian, Greater Poland and Lower Silesian Voivodeships. These operations confirmed their exceptional professionalism, outstanding commitment and effectiveness in combating drug-related crime. The many-hour, and sometimes several-day, operational activities conducted by officers of the Drug Crime Unit outside their jurisdiction enabled them to gather extensive evidence concerning the cross-border smuggling of psychoactive substances from other European Union countries.
The evidence gathered enabled the Lwówek Śląski criminal police to carry out dozens of successful operations, resulting in the detention of more than 30 people who were charged with a total of several dozen offences, including the production, possession, distribution and smuggling of significant quantities of various drugs, measured in tonnes. The most stringent preventive measures were applied to the suspects.
It should be noted that in many cases the operations targeted dangerous and ruthless criminals. Detaining them required enormous experience and determination, even at the risk of injury or loss of life. Having felt immune from punishment for so long, the offenders were, in most cases, taken by surprise when Lwówek Śląski officers of the law made a dynamic entry through doors and windows forced open with physical force.
As a result of these operations, several dozen kilograms of various drugs were seized, eight illegal plantations were dismantled and 1,788 non-fibre hemp plants were confiscated. Stolen passenger cars, illegal firearms and various other stolen property were also secured. A range of evidence confirming the criminal activity was collected. Most importantly, however, officers established the structure and leadership of an organised criminal group operating in Poland and several European Union countries.
The exemplary cooperation with the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Góra deserves recognition. The prosecutor supervising the investigation demonstrated tremendous professionalism and uncompromising firmness towards the perpetrators of the offences described above.
Thanks to the determination and professionalism of the Lwówek Śląski criminal police, the activities of criminal groups responsible for introducing significant quantities of drugs into circulation were halted, which will certainly improve security in the region. The detained individuals may expect severe legal consequences.
The hard work of officers from the Drug Crime Unit of the Criminal Division of the Lwówek Śląski police headquarters was recognised by the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław, Police Inspector General Paweł Półtorzycki, who officially commended the officers.
A prosecutor from the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Góra also recognised the officers’ work by sending official thanks to the management of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław and the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
Officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski, working with the Zielona Góra prosecutor’s office, are continuing their operational and procedural activities. Analysis of the evidence obtained indicates further opportunities to dismantle connected criminal structures.
