Because contact with the man was difficult, it was not entirely clear where he was. After establishing his approximate location, Lwówek Śląski police officers immediately went there, preparing for an intervention requiring the safety of both the caller and bystanders.
Upon arrival, however, it turned out that the situation was completely different. The 35-year-old resident of Karkonosze County was not in a life-threatening situation and did not possess any weapon. The intoxicated caller admitted that the entire report had been fabricated—his sole aim was to bring the police there so that they would... give him a lift home.
At the time of the intervention, the man smelled of alcohol, and his behavior could have had serious consequences—both for him and for other people whose lives or health could have been at risk at that time.
Because of the man's irrational behavior, a medical rescue team arrived at the scene and took him to a hospital in Bolesławiec for consultation.
The police remind the public that unjustified use of the emergency number is not only irresponsible but also punishable. Such actions may delay the services' response to genuine incidents in which someone really needs help. The man will soon face charges related to making a false report.
