As reported on X by the spokesperson for the Mayor of Wrocław Jacek Dobrzyński:

This morning, in connection with suspicions of crimes and irregularities at Collegium Humanum, agents detained the Mayor of Wrocław on the prosecutor’s orders. After the procedural activities were completed, the detainee was taken to the local branch.

In turn, the spokesperson for the National Prosecutor’s Office, Przemysław Nowak, said on the same social media platform:

Jacek S. will be charged in an investigation concerning irregularities at the former Collegium Humanum university.

According to information provided by the spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and the CBA service, Mayor of Wrocław Jacek Sutryk was detained in connection with a case concerning irregularities at Collegium Humanum that has been ongoing for several months. The Mayor of Wrocław is giving explanations in Katowice. The local branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office is conducting proceedings concerning this university. The Mayor had already been questioned in this case earlier.

Wrocław City Hall is operating normally and carrying out its daily duties. In the event of any absence of the Mayor of Wrocław, decisions related to the city’s operations are made by the first deputy, namely Deputy Mayor Renata Granowska.

On 3 March 2024, Mayor of Wrocław Jacek Sutryk stated in this matter:

“Ladies and Gentlemen,
like several tens of thousands of people throughout Poland, I used the educational offering of Collegium Humanum, which I paid for out of my own pocket, and completed the two-semester course of study by passing the examination.
Like several tens of thousands of people throughout Poland, I decided to undertake the studies after familiarising myself with the offer and the ministry’s accreditations.
Like several tens of thousands of people throughout Poland, I consider myself an injured party in this matter and expect it to be promptly clarified by the relevant state services. (…)”.

Jacek Sutryk had previously asked that, when writing about him in media coverage, his image and the full version of his first and last name be used.
