The incident took place on October 28. As reported by the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways:

We joined (...) the police officers from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters, who were conducting the nationwide “Alcohol and Drugs” operation on DK94 in Kruszyn. The operation is aimed at checking as many vehicle drivers as possible and removing from road traffic those who may pose a threat to safety.

The road workers add:

The main aim of the operation is to improve road safety by detecting and removing from traffic drivers operating vehicles under the influence of prohibited substances, thereby reducing the number of road incidents. Every driver who drives a car under the influence of alcohol is a potential threat to other road users. Such behavior is irresponsible and may have serious consequences.

Let us remember that alcohol reduces concentration, slows reaction time and causes an incorrect assessment of distance and speed. As such, it prevents safe participation in road traffic and is prohibited by law.
