– At 1:35 a.m., police officers were informed that an intoxicated driver had been apprehended on Jaworzyńska Street in Legnica – reports Comm. Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters. – It was established that the man had driven a VW vehicle to a petrol station to buy alcohol. The 41-year-old was walking unsteadily, had slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol was noticeable on his breath.
The station employees notified the police, while a group of witnesses prevented the driver from continuing his journey.
As it turned out, the 41-year-old was completely drunk; a test showed nearly 2 promille of alcohol in his exhaled air. The spokesperson said: – The man refused to undergo further tests, so blood was taken from him for additional analysis. Officers arrested the man and placed him in police custody.

Once again, the proper conduct of witnesses to the incident helped prevent a drunk driver from continuing to drive and perhaps helped avert another tragedy on the road.
