A local resident’s vigilance led to the arrest of a drunk driver. Bolesławiec officers: – In the middle of the night, a woman reported that people were sitting in a car parked on one of the streets and were most likely drinking alcohol.
The duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec sent patrol and intervention officers there, and they immediately began an inspection. The police:
A young man was sitting behind the wheel, and the smell of alcohol was detectable on him. A sobriety test showed that the 23-year-old Ukrainian citizen had been driving with 2 per mille of alcohol in his system.
The vehicle’s owner was also inside. (He was intoxicated as well.)
The officers:
The driver was arrested and, after sobering up, was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was then brought before the Bolesławiec court under an expedited procedure, where he received a sentence under which he was banned from driving for 3 years. In addition, the 23-year-old must pay PLN 5,000 to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the equivalent value of the vehicle, which the offender had been driving.
