A court in Legnica has temporarily arrested the foreign national for two months.


– Before 6:00 p.m., a police officer from the Prochowice Police Station, while on his way to work, stopped an intoxicated driver – reports Junior Aspirant Anna Tersa of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters. – On Wrocławska Street in Prochowice, he noticed the driver of a Škoda whose driving indicated that he might be intoxicated.

The officer immediately decided to stop the driver and, by blocking his way, prevented him from driving any farther. The spokesperson: – When he approached the driver, he detected a strong smell of alcohol and then took the keys so that the man could not drive away.

A traffic patrol arrived at the scene moments later. The policewoman:

A breathalyzer test of the 53-year-old Ukrainian national showed more than 3 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air. In addition, a check of police databases revealed that the man was subject to a court-imposed driving ban.

The man was detained and taken to police custody. He will soon face court proceedings under the expedited procedure. The offense carries a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment. The police headquarters:
