– The past weekend did not begin well for a 35-year-old resident of Karkonosze County, who decided to pay for goods at one of the city’s stores with a banknote… purchased on an online shopping platform – reports junior officer Bartłomiej Sobczyszyn from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters. – Although the plan may have seemed perfect to the man, it had a weakness—the money was clearly marked with the red word “counterfeit”.
The cashier was not fooled. A police patrol arrived at the scene and arrested the 35-year-old.
As it turned out, this was not the first attempt by the Karkonosze County resident to pay for purchases with a counterfeit banknote. The Bolesławiec police headquarters states:
We remind you that fraud is punishable by up to 8 years in prison.
