The incident occurred on September 21, 2024. – At around 5:00 p.m., Legnica police officers received a report that, in one of the apartments in Legnica, an intoxicated mother and her partner were caring for a 4-year-old child – reports kom. Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the KMP in Legnica.
A patrol immediately went to the scene. The spokesperson: – After entering the apartment, officers found a woman and a man who, slurring their words, tried to tell the police that nothing was wrong with the child.
The girl was cold. Seeing the neglected child, the officers looked in the refrigerator to check whether there was anything to eat. The commissioner: – The refrigerator was completely empty.
When the officers asked the mother when the girl had last eaten any meal, they were told that “the daughter ate at preschool,” most likely the previous day. The police called paramedics to the scene, and they took the girl to hospital.
Both the mother and her partner were completely drunk; both had more than 3 per mille of alcohol in their breath. The couple spent the night in police custody.

Officers from the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters’ Department for Combating Crimes Against Life and Health charged the Legnica resident with exposing a child to the direct danger of loss of life or serious harm to health, an offence punishable by up to 5 years in prison. The 38-year-old admitted to the alleged offence. The District Prosecutor in Legnica placed her under police supervision.
The woman faces up to five years in prison.
