District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra:
The Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office is supervising an investigation conducted by the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters into the theft of two submersible pumps worth PLN 1,400 from one of the flooded properties in Bolesławiec—that is, an offense under Article 278 § 1 of the Polish Criminal Code.
As a result of actions taken by police officers, the perpetrator of the crime was identified.
The suspect Damian S. admitted to committing the offense, gave an explanation and submitted a request to be convicted by the court at a hearing without conducting a trial, and to be sentenced to an unconditional term of eight months’ imprisonment. The Bolesławiec District Prosecutor granted the request.
On September 19, Bolesławiec criminal investigators arrested a person attempting to profit from the tragedy that had affected Bolesławiec residents. – A 29-year-old resident of the county stole two submersible pumps that their owners had been using to remove the effects of the flood – reports Junior Aspirant Bartłomiej Sobczyszyn of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters. – The looter, showing no regard for human suffering, mercilessly robbed those affected by the disaster.

Bearing in mind the level of depravity they had encountered, officers of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters used all available resources and personnel to identify the perpetrator of the theft. The criminal investigators’ intensive operational work produced an almost immediate result, as they arrested the thief and recovered the stolen property that same day.
He adds: – The actions of the Bolesławiec police officers clearly demonstrate that they are not indifferent to the fate of residents affected by the flood, and that this type of behavior will meet with an immediate response from the uniformed officers.
