The Polish 4x400 m relay team, consisting of Jakub Szarapo, Wiktoria Gajosz, Stanisław Strzelecki, and Zofia Tomczyk, won the silver medal at the U20 World Championships with a time of 3:20.44!

As reported by the Polish Athletics Association:

Our national team secured a place in the final with a confident victory in the third qualifying heat. Michał Kijewski, Wiktoria Gajosz, Stanisław Strzelecki and Zofia Tomczyk recorded a time of 3:21.92, thus giving Poland a chance to compete for a medal. At this stage of the competition, our athletes posted the second-fastest time among the participants.

In the final, they confirmed their excellent form. Jakub Szarapo replaced Kijewski in the first leg and made a strong start to the relay. The Polish team then controlled the race and, after a highly determined performance on the track, could celebrate winning the silver medal. Poland recorded a time of 3:20.44 and were beaten only by the excellent Australian sprinters. The silver medal won today in Lima is the second medal in the history of Poland’s appearances in the mixed relay at the junior world championships. The Polish team won its first medal three years ago in Nairobi.
