– Officers from the Border Guard Post in Zgorzelec were performing official duties on 25 August in one of the parking areas near the A4 motorway when they were informed that a person had been struck by a car leaving the parking area – reports Second Lieutenant Paweł Biskupik of the Border Guard, press spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit.
Border Guard officers, alerted by witnesses to the incident, immediately went to the scene. The spokesperson said: – The officers promptly provided first aid to the injured person and secured the scene. The 52-year-old man from Ukraine was conscious, with numerous abrasions on his legs and an injury to his left ankle. Until the arrival of the medical rescuers and police, the Border Guard officers maintained continuous verbal and visual contact with him.
The emergency medical team took the injured foreign national to hospital. Police are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident.
