The incident occurred on July 24. As Legnica firefighters report:
(…) the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Legnica received a report about a man who jumped into the water at one of the bodies of water in Rokitki (Staw Kąpielisko) and did not resurface.
The officers reported: – The Chojnów Rescue and Firefighting Unit, OSP Rokitki, and the “Legnica-1” Specialist Water and Diving Rescue Group were dispatched to the incident. Based on information obtained from witnesses, the search area was identified. Two rescuers (asp. Wojciech Hładuński and ogn. Radosław Seńków), secured with safety lines, entered the water and searched the body of water using a pendulum method.
The missing man was found approximately 7 m from the shore, at a depth of approximately 3 m. The Legnica headquarters reported: – Junior firefighter Marcin Paruch, volunteer firefighter Wojciech Nowak, and volunteer firefighter Rafał Wacyk joined the effort to retrieve the man from the bottom of the body of water. The injured person was brought to the surface and handed over to the Emergency Medical Team.
After 18 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the man's heartbeat was restored, and he was taken to a specialist hospital in Legnica.
