– During a patrol of the roads in Środa County, police officers noticed a motorcycle rider who, disregarding the road signs in force, was recklessly overtaking cars – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters.
She adds: – The police immediately began a chase, activating their light and sound signals in order to stop the rider. However, this did not produce the intended result, and the driver continued to pose a threat not only to himself but also to the female passenger he was carrying. The man was stopped only after the officers cut him off.
The daredevil admitted that he had not been paying sufficient attention to his surroundings, meaning he neither saw nor heard the signals sent by the officers. The 39-year-old was given fines totaling PLN 4,750 and 65 penalty points for failing to comply with sign B-25 (no overtaking) three times, overtaking at a pedestrian crossing, and failing to comply with sign P-8b (mandatory left turn).
Officers:
We appeal to all drivers to use common sense! Excessive speed and reckless driving are a very dangerous combination that can lead to a real tragedy. Let us remember that motorcyclists – when a road incident occurs – are most exposed to loss of health and life, because they are protected by nothing more than a helmet.
