On 6 July, in the town market square in Wleń, in the presence of invited guests, parents and friends, 66 trainees of the voluntary basic military service’s fifth intake of the year took the military oath and became full-fledged candidates for professional military service. This was undoubtedly one of the most important events in every soldier’s life.
The oath ceremony was also a good opportunity to present awards for the best results during basic training. In the presence of their families, the commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec, Col. Krzysztof Malankiewicz, presented letters of commendation to the outstanding soldiers.
After the oath had been taken and the Representative Song of the Polish Armed Forces had been performed, a surprising event took place. One of the female soldiers was called out in front of the formation, and her beloved walked towards her. To everyone’s surprise, the man knelt down and proposed. Flowers also appeared, followed moments later by loud applause from those gathered.
We congratulate all the newly sworn-in soldiers and wish them success in completing their further specialist training, which will help them acquire all the skills needed to enter professional military service.
