Anaphylactic shock, also known as anaphylaxis, is a sudden and potentially fatal allergic reaction. It can occur in response to various allergens, such as foods, insect bites or medications. Typical symptoms include difficulty breathing, swelling, a rash and a sudden drop in blood pressure. Anaphylactic shock requires immediate medical attention, and treatment usually includes administering adrenaline. People at risk of anaphylaxis should carry adrenaline auto-injectors and avoid known allergens.
