Hateful comments were published in December 2023 beneath an article about a priest from Bolesławiec. The posts targeted istotne.pl owner Krzysztof Gwizdała, co-author of a video report published later.
The comments, police determined, were sent from a phone owned by a local celebrity. The man once tried his luck on a TVN programme, but without success.
At the first conciliatory hearing, the parties did not reach a settlement. Although the celebrity did not admit guilt, he immediately requested that the hearing be held behind closed doors. The court, however, will decide whether the trial is public at the request of the injured party, Krzysztof Gwizdała, not the celebrity accused of posting hateful comments.
Gwizdała announces that he will seek full public access and media access to the proceedings, which will also address issues concerning priests of the Diocese of Legnica.
The trial will begin in September.
