Firefighters from Trzebień summed up their recent operations. One of them took place on June 3. The incident occurred in Krępnica. The firefighters said: – The doe got stuck in the fence of a private property.
The firefighters helped the animal. Firefighters from Trzebień and Bolesławiec took part in the operation.
This was not the only unusual operation carried out by firefighters from Bolesławiec County recently. On June 11, firefighters from Różyniec were dispatched to a barn owl trapped in a ventilation shaft at a primary school in Szczytnica.
Firefighters from Różyniec and Bolesławiec took part in the operation. The animal was unharmed and was released into the wild.
And on May 19, firefighters from Nowogrodziec were dispatched to an incident involving a snake in a boiler room in Milików. The firefighters said: – The snake was caught using animal-handling tongs, transported, and released away from buildings near the forest.
The reptile turned out to be… a grass snake, also known as Natrix natrix, the most commonly encountered snake in Poland, posing no threat to people.
These cold-blooded animals prefer wetlands, meadows, and areas around bodies of water, where they can bask in the sun. Grass snakes are not venomous and rarely bite; if they do, their bites are usually harmless and may cause only mild skin irritation. It is worth remembering, however, not to try to catch or touch them, in order to avoid unnecessary stress for the animal and the potential bite itself.
