Czy Piotr Roman i PO powinni zawrzeć porozumienie
During the first inaugural session of the City Council of the sixth term, held on Wednesday, December 1, a second deputy chairperson was not elected. Why? The President, Piotr Roman, is holding talks with Civic Platform. What is more, he offered Civic Platform the position of deputy mayor. In return, however, he expects the position of deputy county head for a representative of his own club. “I want to avoid unnecessary clashes between the town hall and the county office,” the president explains. “It is true that we could govern on our own, but I believe the next four years could unfold in a somewhat different atmosphere.”
As Piotr Roman admits, this was not an easy decision. “Of course, we will have to seek a compromise; programmatic differences still exist between us. But we also have to think about the future. Parliamentary elections will be held next year. If the most important groups in the city are once again unable to reach an agreement, Bolesławiec will once again have no member of parliament,” he points out.
“The president has an absolute majority in the City Council. The fact that he is reaching out to Civic Platform shows that he cares about cooperation,” says Andrzej Czeczutka, a Civic Platform councillor. “The president’s proposal is a step in the right direction. We hope that our cooperation will work out very well and that together we will work for the good of the residents instead of dealing with grand politics, which is practiced in the Sejm and Senate,” adds Mirosław Sakowski, head of the Civic Platform councillors’ club in the City Council.
We will find out whether cooperation will be established during Thursday’s session of the County Council. “We are waiting for an answer,” Piotr Roman stresses. “On Thursday, it will become clear whether party logic or common-sense logic will prevail.”
