On 11 May, at Bolesławiec Market Square, Major General Christopher R. Norrie, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, and Command Sergeant Major Jonathan E. Reffeor formally furled their division’s colors, marking the end of their mission in Eastern Europe.
Major General Kevin D. Admiral, commander of the 1st Cavalry Division, and Command Sergeant Major LeVares J. Jackson unfurled their division’s colors, assuming command. The 1st Cavalry Division officially took control of the United States Army task force operating in Poland and the Baltic countries.
Approximately 120 United States Army soldiers took part in the formal transfer of command. The ceremony was enhanced by a performance by a military band.
