The annual competition among Bolesławiec educational institutions to collect used batteries has come to an end. The competition is jointly organised by the Municipal Communal Services Company and the Municipal Public Library – Knowledge Centre (Municipal Centre for Environmental Education).
This year, 10 preschools and 15 classes from Bolesławiec primary schools took part in the collection of these hazardous waste materials. Employees of MZGK and MCEE collected the accumulated batteries four times—twice from preschools and twice from schools—weighing them and recording the collection results.
As a result of our efforts, the preschools collected a total of 1,830.2 kg of used cells, while the schools collected 1,309.9 kg, giving a total of 3,141.1 kg.
After the results for the individual institutions had been compiled, the results were announced on 10 May 2024 at the headquarters of the Municipal Public Library – Knowledge Centre, in the presence of the city mayor Piotr Roman and MZGK president Krzysztof Basiak.
