When will the passport office open? This topic was discussed during the first session of the Bolesławiec City Council of the new term.

Piotr Roman:

We are among the three local government units in Lower Silesia which, like Bolesławiec, trusted the voivodeship administration and the government administration that signing a letter of intent and carrying out all the actions required of us would allow the passport office to open. Let me remind you that running a passport office is not a municipal task; it is a government task, which the government is completely unable to handle, because it is enough to go to Legnica, Jelenia Góra or Wrocław.

He added:

We wanted to help our residents so that they would not have to travel around those offices somewhere in Legnica or Jelenia Góra. (...) We are ready. The passport office is 100% equipped. Essentially, we are waiting for the Lower Silesian voivode to sign the agreement, because, let me remind you, we signed a letter of intent in November—that is the procedure. Everyone who established passport offices followed exactly the same procedure. (…) Every day, residents not only of Bolesławiec but also of Bolesławiec County call asking when the office will open. That is why we are trying to carry out our actions step by step. First, we started with phone calls. Now nobody wants to answer our calls, and referring in letters to the previous arrangements—as we can see—has no effect. Therefore, the next step is for the City Council to adopt an appeal today, a statement addressed not to the voivode but to the prime minister, because the voivode is the prime minister’s representative in the field. If this does not work, we will have to intensify these actions.

The council adopted a resolution concerning an appeal to the prime minister. All councillors voted in favor.
