– Yesterday, at around 11:00 a.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica received information about a man lying in a roadside ditch near the village of Rogoźnik who showed no signs of life – reports Aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

And she adds: – Police officers were immediately sent to the scene, where they confirmed the tragic information. Vehicle parts left at the scene and the man’s injuries indicated that he had been involved in a traffic accident. Under the supervision of the prosecutor, officers meticulously secured all traces left at the scene and the car bodywork components.

As investigators gathered evidence, other police officers carried out a series of operations to identify the perpetrator of the tragic incident as quickly as possible. Traces and the criminal investigators’ findings led the officers to Jawor County and to the arrest of a 27-year-old man.

At the time of his arrest, the man had more than 3‰ of alcohol in his exhaled breath. The resident of Jawor County had blood drawn for further testing. Officers also secured a Renault Laguna, which had damage indicating its involvement in the accident.

Police officers, under the supervision of the prosecutor, are currently carrying out a series of operations to establish the exact course of the incident. We remind you that a driver who leaves the scene of an incident is subject to more severe criminal liability; in such a case, the court may impose a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
