The incident took place in Prochowice. Traffic police stopped the driver of a Volkswagen for inspection. – The reason for the intervention was exceeding the speed limit by 44 km/h in a built-up area – explains asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
She adds:
During the inspection, the driver handed the officers his driving licence. After checking police information systems, it turned out that… the man had been dead since 2007.
The outcome? The “clever” man ultimately admitted that it was his deceased brother’s document. The spokeswoman said: – He pretended to be his brother because he himself was subject to a court-ordered driving ban.
The 62-year-old resident of Lubin County will now answer for speeding, violating the court-ordered ban and using another person’s document. He faces up to 5 years in prison for the offenses committed.
