As reported by “Rzeczpospolita”:
A prosecutor from the Lower Silesian Branch for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław has brought charges of dereliction of official duties in connection with the high-profile murder of two police officers, which took place in Wrocław in December 2023.
According to the newspaper, the charges were brought against three police officers who, in the prosecutor’s view, “failed to perform their duties during the apprehension and escort of Maksymilian F. to the appropriate police station, thereby acting to the detriment of private and public interests.”
F. was carrying a black-powder firearm. The rp.pl website reports:
– He had the gun fastened to his suspenders and hidden under his armpit. If he had been searched, he would not have been able to conceal it – one of the investigators told us.
The suspects pleaded not guilty and refused to give testimony. They face up to three years in prison. More about the entire case can be found on the “Rzeczpospolita” website.
Let us recall. In December last year, we reported on the case as follows:
– It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our colleague Ireneusz, the second police officer shot by a criminal in Wrocław – the police announced in a statement after 7:20 p.m. (December 4 – ed. istotne.pl)
Police statement
Several hours earlier, 45-year-old Daniel Łuczyński, from the same patrol as Ireneusz, had died.
It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce that today, as a result of injuries sustained while on duty, our colleague from the Wrocław-Fabryczna Police Station – Senior Warrant Officer Daniel Łuczyński – has passed away. He was 45 years old. Having fulfilled to the end the words of the police oath, he leaves behind a grieving family and loved ones. (...) He joined the Police 19 years ago and was always open to the needs of others, sharing his experience and knowledge with younger colleagues. In his life, ended far too soon, he came to be known as a warm, smiling, kind and helpful colleague. He will remain forever in our hearts as a helpful companion in service and a friend, always ready to devote his time to everyone.
Daniel has left us, leaving his family and friends, as well as everyone who worked with him, in despair and deep sorrow. Police Chief General Inspector Jarosław Szymczyk and Lower Silesian Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector Dariusz Wesołowski, as well as Wrocław Municipal Police Commander Inspector Rafał Siczek and the management, police officers and employees of the Police extend their condolences and deepest sympathy to the entire family, loved ones, friends and acquaintances. It is not easy to find words of comfort in such a situation.
Maksymilian F. shot police officers
The incident occurred on December 1, at approximately 10:42 p.m., at 90 Sudecka Street in Wrocław. One of the pedestrians witnessed it. First, shots were heard, and moments later a man ran out of a Hyundai parked on the street. A police patrol called to the scene from the Krzyki police station approached the parked vehicle, which turned out to be an unmarked police car.
Two police officers were inside, transporting a 44-year-old man to a room for detained persons (PdOZ). He was wanted to serve a six-month prison sentence. Forty-four-year-old Maksymilian F. shot the officers transporting him in the head.
