On February 26, on the 16th anniversary of the death of the late Cpl. Hubert Kowalewski, a delegation from the 10BKPanc, led by its commander, Brig. Gen. Mirosław Downar, laid a wreath and lit a candle beneath the plaque commemorating soldiers who fell on missions outside the country.

The following day, a community meeting with veterans and wounded veterans was held at the 10BKPanc Club. After the meeting, the delegation went to the grave of the late Cpl. Hubert Kowalewski to lay a wreath.


On February 26, 2008, during the second rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Afghanistan, a Humvee vehicle drove over a mine. One soldier was wounded in the explosion, while two were killed at the scene—including Senior Private Hubert Kowalewski. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of corporal.
