The Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality website published an appeal from the mayor:
I am increasingly receiving reports of dishonest practices involving companies that offer residents cooperation in replacing heat sources and installing photovoltaic systems. When presenting their offers, company employees often impersonate municipal employees or promise that, after an installation is completed, the municipality will pay them a subsidy.
He adds:
They also often ask people to complete surveys about their willingness to cooperate. Unaware of the danger, residents thereby disclose their personal data without knowing how it will be used in the future. It also happens that companies claim on their posters to cooperate with the municipality or offer paid access to data that anyone can find free of charge online.
And he adds:
Therefore, I appeal to residents to carefully verify the following, among other things, before signing any document in order to avoid fraud::
- which company or institution the person presenting the offer represents,
- where the company is based,
- what the company’s references are, including where it has already carried out projects in the municipality,
- whether the company has a website and whether the information provided by its employee matches the information published there,
- whether the company has been entered in the Central Register and Information on Business Activity (online),
- whether the company actually cooperates with the municipality or the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection,
- whether the amount of the subsidy offered is consistent with reality,
- whether signing the agreement involves, for example, taking out a loan to install a heat source.
I also emphasize that municipal employees never knock on doors to present offers for subsidy programs. Obtaining funding for replacing a heat source under a municipal program must always be preceded by submitting an application and signing an agreement with the municipality, before any work begins. In case of doubt, follow this rule: if I am not sure, I do not sign!
