We wrote about Ryszard Ruliński’s rich history in the article: Ryszard Ruliński – a business gambler from Bolesławiec.
Ryszard Ruliński, a graduate of the Food Technology Technical School in Legnica and a would-be basketball player, founded a company in Bolesławiec that became known around the world. He started with a pretzel-stick factory.
Ruliński earned his first million selling pretzel sticks outside beer stands throughout Lower Silesia. This was how he raised money for raw materials, packaging and employee wages. He secured his first business contacts and contractors only later, at the Poznań food trade fairs. He wanted to launch wholesale sales. The production of French croissants proved a great success. Bolesławiec-made croissants sold better than hot cakes. Poles bought them wholesale and even sold them in… Berlin. Customers from all over Lower Silesia came for baguettes and croissants.
Another major success was the world-famous “Och!” juices. The orange and grapefruit juices won numerous awards, including Polagra gold medals in 1996 and 1999, as well as the European Medal awarded by the Committee for European Integration in 2000. The “Och!” brand owned by Ruliński’s products entered European and American markets, where it won awards for the quality of its juices and beverages. Ryszard Ruliński ended the company’s operations in 2003.
