An Onet article describes a scandal in Lower Silesia, where special services controlled by people from the Law and Justice (PiS) party illegally spied on Robert Raczyński, the mayor of Lubin and leader of Nonpartisan Local Government Representatives, despite his coalition with PiS in the Lower Silesian regional assembly.
Agents downloaded hundreds of his conversations from an online messenger, wiretapped and recorded meetings, and installed surveillance equipment in his car. Nearly a thousand pages of transcripts of conversations between Raczyński and his associate, Andrzej Pudełko, reached the media. They indicate that the two may have profited from activities harmful to the environment, such as contaminating the environment and burying waste.
The information was disclosed by an ABW officer, who indicated that the surveillance had been conducted on the orders of Captain Marcin P., known for his sympathies toward PiS, suggesting that these actions were part of a larger operation approved by higher authorities. Despite being aware of information that could compromise him, Raczyński did not notify the prosecutor’s office about the surveillance and withdrew from the recent elections to the Sejm.
Today at 10:40 p.m., TVN will broadcast the report “Dirty Game” — a joint Onet and “Superwizjer” production about illegal surveillance in Lower Silesia.
