Przemysław Czarnek, a Law and Justice MP, spoke during Monday’s conference concerning the situation on the Bóbr River and the Pilchowice Reservoir. The politician thanked the parliamentarians and local government officials present at the site, and then appealed for urgent support for local entrepreneurs.

– The main appeal from this conference is as follows: immediate assistance for entrepreneurs here who have been investing their money for years in their premises, restaurants and hotels, and who earn their income precisely during this period, the summer season – said Przemysław Czarnek.

The PiS politician stated that entrepreneurs whose businesses depend on tourism and the holiday season have currently been left without real support. These are primarily people running restaurants, hotels and other businesses connected with tourist traffic in the Bóbr River and Pilchowice Lake area.

– Today they have been left without any assistance. Immediate government aid and compensation – Czarnek said.

The MP blamed government representatives and pointed to what he described as a lack of supervision on the part of ministries and people responsible for actions concerning the situation on the river.

– This is clearly the result of a lack of supervision by Ms Henning-Kloska, Ms Zielińska and the Ministry of State Assets – the politician said.

At the end of his speech, Czarnek once again stressed that PiS’s main demand is to launch assistance for entrepreneurs.

– Immediate assistance for entrepreneurs – this is our demand on this Monday morning here at this reservoir – he concluded.

The matter is also important for residents of Bolesławiec and the surrounding area, as restrictions concerning the Bóbr River and information about the water conditions are attracting considerable interest in the region. Services had previously reported that mercury test results did not indicate a threat to human health, but a ban on using the river along the designated section remains in force because of microbiological test results.

The ban includes, among other things, entering the water, bathing, watering animals, fishing, using the water for domestic purposes and using watercraft. Inspections and explanatory activities concerning the situation on the Bóbr River are continuing.
