An officer from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters, returning home at night after completing his duty, noticed a vehicle on the road whose driver was unable to stay in his lane and was travelling in a direction different from the one he was indicating. Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
His intuition suggested that the driver was feeling unwell and needed help, or was under the influence of some substance. When the observed vehicle turned into a nearby petrol station, the police officer followed it to find out what was causing the driver's unusual behaviour. When he opened the door, he smelled a strong odour of alcohol. He acted quickly, took the vehicle's keys and called a patrol to the scene.
Police officers who were on duty at the time arrived at the scene. Police: – They immediately checked the detained man's sobriety. The test showed that the 44-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County had 2.7 parts per thousand of alcohol in his system. It also turned out that the man had had his driving privileges revoked since 2006.
Driving while intoxicated is punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
Officers:
Let us remember that drivers under the influence of alcohol pose a huge threat to road safety. Therefore, once again, we appeal to drivers not to get behind the wheel after consuming even the smallest amount of alcohol. Driving “under the influence” impairs the ability to perceive reality properly, which in turn affects decisions made behind the wheel. Unfortunately, many people still gamble with their own lives and health and those of other road users.
