A significant difference in fuel prices between Bolesławiec and other nearby towns continues to persist. A reader noticed this and wrote to us over the holidays:

(...) I would like (...) to ask you to publicize and publish the topic of the “price-fixing scheme” taking place in our town. Today, while travelling around Lwówek County, the price of diesel was PLN 6.06 per litre, while here at the Orlen petrol station on Zgorzelecka Street it was PLN 6.68 per litre. It is similar at other stations. Where does such a colossal difference come from?

Earlier, in mid-December, another reader also drew attention to the same situation:

What is happening again with fuel prices here in our Bolesławiec? Is it brought directly to us from the sheikhs? Or is Bolesławiec’s private sector simply still trying to make more money? Regards.

As evidence of the large price difference, the reader attached photographs showing prices at petrol stations in Lubusz Voivodeship and in Kłodzko (Lower Silesian Voivodeship).

And indeed. Compared with those stations, fuel in Bolesławiec is much more expensive. The difference in the prices of 95-octane petrol and diesel is as much as 20–30 groszy per litre. However, if you look carefully, the difference at privately owned stations is even greater, reaching 40 or, in some cases, as much as 50 groszy per litre.

Readers tell us that the price difference is so large that they prefer to refuel their cars outside the town of ceramics.

We also received photographs of prices from the last few days at two stations in Podkarpackie Voivodeship from a reader. It is also cheaper there; take a look:
