The thefts took place at night, while lorry drivers were taking their mandatory rest. On the first occasion, the 26-year-old had prepared four 30-litre cans, which he filled with fuel from a lorry’s tank. He stole 100 litres of diesel fuel at that time.
During the next theft, he was even better prepared—he had ten 30-litre containers with him. This time, he took 300 litres of fuel.
Police officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec brought a total of four charges against the man. Two concern theft with burglary. The others relate to failing to stop for a road check and driving a vehicle despite a court-imposed driving ban.
The 26-year-old will now appear before the court. Because he acted as a repeat offender, he faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
