The incident occurred on Friday morning in Lubań. Two Soviet F1 hand grenades were found in a trash bin. The person who found them moved them elsewhere and left them in a bag behind a tree on Kościuszki Street. The bag was left there to shield nearby buildings from a potential explosion.
The press spokesperson for the District Police Headquarters in Lubań commented on the situation for elubań.pl:
We received a report from dispatch that two grenades had been found in one of the trash bins. The person who found them removed them and moved them to a safe place. At present, we only know that they are two F1 hand grenades without fuzes. Due to the nature of the discovery, we are awaiting the arrival of the independent counterterrorist police unit from Wrocław—we were told by asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Lubań.
