The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 8:30 a.m. As reported by Zgorzelec112, citing the German newspaper “Bild”:
The federal police checked a man in the A4 “An der Neiße” parking area (...). In the storage compartment of his minivan, they discovered something that looked like an explosive device.
The Zgorzelec-based service added: – According to information from BILD, it was a wrapped object resembling a firecracker, with several wires and flashing LED diodes protruding from it. It is also said that a battery was connected.
The Russian national, who was unable to explain the situation, was detained. Bomb-disposal specialists were called in, and the motorway was closed.
However, it turned out that the “device” in question was a dummy. The police are investigating the matter.
