When the elderly woman from Bolesławiec said that she had no savings, the caller asked whether she had anything else to give instead. The victim admitted that she had collector coins at home. She was then told that a man would soon come to collect them.
After several minutes, the woman opened the door to the stairwell, where a masked person was already waiting. Officers: – A suitcase containing coins worth several thousand złoty was handed over. The following day, the victim called her son, who was astonished by the questions about the accident. A similar incident also took place in a neighboring county.
Bolesławiec police officers:
Once again, we warn against believing what we hear from a stranger. In particular, the story of a road accident caused by a family member, in which a pregnant woman was injured, should be told to elderly people in our families and to our neighbors. The scammers’ modus operandi is repeated time and again, and seniors are most often their victims. Let us talk to those closest to us and warn them against handing money over to strangers.
