– Yesterday morning, the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica received a report that a road collision had occurred on one of the streets. At the scene, police officers established that a 47-year-old driver of a Mazda passenger car had turned from Kręta Street into Wrocławska Street, entering the lane for traffic travelling in the opposite direction, and caused a collision with a Volkswagen travelling correctly – reports junior aspirant Tomasz Nowak, press officer of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

And he adds: – A strong smell of alcohol was noticeable from both men. The 47-year-old refused to take a breath test, so blood was drawn from him for further testing. Meanwhile, a device showed that the 43-year-old had nearly 1.2 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The drivers’ licences were confiscated. They may now face up to two years in prison.

Officers:

We appeal to drivers to use common sense! A drunk driver on the road is a potential killer. Let us react when an intoxicated person attempts to get into a car and drive away. If we witness this crime and are afraid to intervene, it is enough to call the emergency number 112. Let us all be responsible for safety on the road.
