He wanted to scare his wife while drunk. He called to say he had eaten poisonous mushrooms in the forest. The woman mobilized all the emergency services

– The 58-year-old resident of Legnica County acted irresponsibly when, while out picking mushrooms, he lied to his wife that he had eaten poisonous mushrooms and was feeling unwell – reports asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. – He said goodbye to her and then stopped answering her calls.

The frightened woman informed the police about what had happened, thereby putting all the emergency services on alert. The spokesperson: – Lubiń police officers and firefighters from the State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Service took part in the search for the man.

As it turned out, the man was in no danger. The 58-year-old was found after the forest had been searched for an hour and a half. He was walking towards Legnica. The District Police Headquarters in Lubin:

He explained that he wanted to play a joke on his wife and merely frighten her. He had 1.3 per mille of alcohol in his system. The Legnica resident did not consider that someone might have needed help at that time…

The officers:

We appeal for common sense and imagination. Police officers treat every report of this kind extremely seriously and involve many people and services in search operations. At the same time, someone might have needed help. Conduct such as that described above is an act of extreme irresponsibility. The harshest consequences provided for by law will be imposed on people who unjustifiably call for help.

They add:

We remind you that, under Article 66 of the Petty Offenses Code, anyone who, intending to cause an unnecessary action, misleads a public utility institution or a body responsible for security, public order or health protection by providing false information or in any other way, or intentionally blocks an emergency telephone number without reasonable cause, hindering the proper functioning of an emergency notification center, is subject to arrest, restriction of liberty or a high fine.

Additionally, if the petty offense caused an unnecessary action, the court may award compensation of up to PLN 1,000.
