For several days, we have been receiving reports of increased police activity in Gromadka Municipality. On Sunday, one reader informed us that the police were looking in Nowa Kuźnia for an “escapee from a psychiatric hospital.” On Monday, another notified the editorial office that the man had been seen in Gromadka. Both had heard that the person in question was “running around with a knife.” The second reader added that “there is almost panic in the village (in Gromadka—as a note from istotne.pl).”
Today, in turn, we received information from a female reader about a “dangerous” man who allegedly chased a boy with a knife. The person reporting this also wrote that the man in question had escaped from a psychiatric facility.
We asked the Bolesławiec police about the matter. What is definitely known? Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
In recent days, we have received several reports from Gromadka Municipality concerning a man who is allegedly appearing in various places and being dangerous. However, at this point, the information provided to us comes from people who heard something from others and were not direct witnesses. No one has reported a crime or offense allegedly committed by a person identified by a specific first name and surname.
They add:
Recently, police officers have been patrolling Gromadka Municipality more intensively; our aim is to establish who this person is and whether he is in fact the person being referred to.
There is also no evidence that the man threatened anyone with a dangerous object. The person was not found at the place where he was allegedly staying either.
Investigations related to the various reports are ongoing. The Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters stresses that it is not downplaying the matter. But at this point there is no reason to panic. The police say: – Of course, whenever we come into contact with a person whose behavior may endanger our safety, this should be reported by calling 112.
