– A 63-year-old woman reported to the Lubin District Police Headquarters and filed a criminal complaint. The woman from Lubin and her husband wanted to buy a Volvo tractor unit – reports warrant officer Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the Lubin District Police Headquarters.
The couple found an advertisement on one of the online portals. The spokesperson said: – The offer concerned collecting the vehicle from abroad for nearly PLN 100,000. After documents confirming the vehicle purchase and the company’s credibility had been presented, the victims transferred the entire amount to the indicated bank account.
The complainant’s husband went to the Netherlands to collect the “purchased” tractor unit. However, it turned out that the company whose details were listed on the invoice had no office at the indicated address. What is more, the man learned that he was not the only Polish person to have been deceived in the same way.
Interestingly, the fraudster initially promised his victim that he would return the money. But then contact with him ceased.
