On Sunday, the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec received a report about an Opel that had driven into other parked cars. Road traffic police officers were sent to the scene.

– As it turned out, residents of a nearby tenement building heard the sound of vehicles colliding. After going outside, they saw two women and a man getting out of the car – reports Superintendent Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the District Police Commander in Zgorzelec. – The driver and the passenger tried to leave the scene, so the residents detained them and handed them over to the police.

Officers tested the 31-year-old driver with a breathalyzer; it showed that she had nearly three promille of alcohol in her system. The officers said: – In addition, the woman’s authorization to drive vehicles had been revoked by a decision of the district governor.

The woman will now answer for her actions in court. She faces, among other penalties, up to two years in prison.
