Lubin criminal investigators were working on a case involving the theft of a Ford passenger car. – The officers’ investigative work led to the identification of the suspect, who was quickly arrested by the uniformed officers – reports aspirant staff officer Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin.

She adds:

Investigators determined that the 30-year-old man worked near a parking lot where a run-down Ford was parked. The suspect had not seen anyone driving it. He decided to take advantage of this.

He therefore stole the wreck and then called a company involved in purchasing and scrapping vehicles. The spokeswoman said: – To prove that he was the owner of the car, the perpetrator forged a vehicle purchase and sale agreement and presented it to a tow-truck driver he had previously hired to take the car away and scrap it. During the transaction, the Lubin resident lied that he had lost the vehicle documents and ignition keys, and that the car had broken down, which was why he had decided to sell it.

The “enterprising” 30-year-old was arrested and has already been charged. He faces up to five years in prison. But that is not the end of the matter. Aspirant staff officer S. Serafin said: – The police also charged the tow-truck driver with unintentional handling of stolen goods, as the circumstances surrounding the sale clearly indicated that the car could have been obtained through a prohibited act, such as the absence of a registration certificate or ignition keys.
