Police officers from Gryfów Śląski noticed a man driving a Volkswagen Polo during a night patrol. – After stopping him for an inspection, it turned out that this was only the beginning of the 43-year-old from Mirsk’s problems – reports Staff Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
It emerged that the man was banned from driving motor vehicles, while his vehicle was unregistered. He also did not have third-party liability insurance. The spokeswoman: – What is more, the registration plates fitted to it belonged to a completely different vehicle.
The Volkswagen was towed to a police impound lot, and the 43-year-old will answer for his actions in court.
Attention! Harsher penalties
Police: – Until October 1, 2023, using someone else’s “plates” was a misdemeanor. Now, using a registration plate not assigned to the vehicle on which it is displayed, or using a forged or altered plate, has been made an offense under the Criminal Code. Such conduct is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
