On Saturday, October 2, a top-of-the-table match in the regional league took place. GKS Warta Bolesławiecka, the third-placed team, hosted the leaders, Granica Bogatynia. From the beginning of the match, the players from Bogatynia appeared to have the advantage, but the visitors were wasteful in front of goal. The hosts had an opportunity in the 4th minute. However, Krzysztof Janowski sent the ball over the visitors’ goal. In the 18th minute, GKS were very lucky. Krzysztof Janicki cleared the ball off the goal line. The visitors also failed to take advantage of a good opportunity in the 21st minute. The ball went past Leszek Kupczak’s goalpost. In the 70th minute, Granica’s striker missed from five metres.

The old football saying goes that missed chances come back to haunt you. The players from Bogatynia found that out. In the 75th minute, Warta coach Tomasz Fulczyński took a risk and introduced a second striker. Ten minutes later, Mariusz Rupa took advantage of the confusion in front of goal and scored the winning goal for the hosts. The goal came after a corner and an unfortunate clearance by Granica’s defenders. The visitors tried to get back into the match, but the score did not change. After a hard and exhausting match in which the initiative belonged to the visitors, GKS Warta Bolesławiecka fortunately collected another three points and moved into second place in the regional league table.
