Bolesławiec police received a report that at a currency exchange office located by the motorway, a young man from Kielce County wanted to exchange banknotes that were souvenirs, not legal tender.
Officers: – The man presented foreign currency for exchange. The first banknote in the bundle was genuine, but the next 10 were not. They were printed with the information “not legal tender” and “souvenir”.
The detained man was returning from Germany and claimed that he had withdrawn this currency from an ATM there.
The man was detained and faces up to 8 years behind bars.
